Editorial standards & quality control

Who runs this site
Global VAT Calc is an independent tool site maintained by its editorial team. It is not affiliated with any tax authority, accounting firm or financial institution — and never claims to be. We publish under a team byline rather than individual names, and the team is accountable for every page and correction.
How content is produced
- Drafted with assistance. Pages are drafted with AI assistance, then directed, structured and edited by the team around the actual task a user has: the calculator first, the method second, the caveats last. We say this openly because pretending otherwise would be worse.
- Verified. Every formula is checked by hand against worked examples. Rates are compiled from official tax authority sources (the links appear on the relevant pages) and cross-checked when changes are announced.
- Reviewed on a schedule. Each page carries a “last reviewed” date. Rates pages are re-checked as budgets and reforms land; all pages get a full review at least twice a year, and typically much more often for anything a tax change touches.
- Corrected in public. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly and the review date is bumped. Where a correction changes a figure materially, the page notes it.
Quality-control checks (every page)
- All calculations reproduce by hand from the published formulas — no hidden steps or rounding surprises.
- Every rate is attributed to an official source and marked as an indicative preset, not a live feed.
- Country pages state their limits openly (for example: the Canary Islands do not use mainland IVA).
- Titles, descriptions and structured data are unique per page; no page is a thin variant of another.
- No scraped text: content is written for this site, and rate tables are compiled and simplified by us from the sources cited.
What we don’t do
- We don’t publish a rate without linking the authority behind it.
- We don’t hide review dates — every page states when it was last checked.
- We never place ads inside the calculator panels, and never use pop-ups or interstitials that block content.
- We don’t accept paid placements or sponsored content that changes a calculation or a rate.
